Here's a new H&M collab to tide us over while the world waits for Alexander Wang x H&M. For the first time ever in the US, H&M is partnering with an artist, Jeff Koons of balloon dog sculpture fame. The collaboration includes a limited-edition Balloon Dog bag that will be sold in select markets such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas, as well as online. The bag will retail for $49.95 and will go on sale on July 17. The brand is also sponsoring Koons' upcoming retrospective at the Whitney Museum of Art, and the Balloon Dog bag will be on sale there too.
Industry site Artnet is pretty snobby about the collab between the "king of mass-appeal art Jeff Koons" and H&M, writing, "it seems clear that this is a less impressive art star-fashion house partnership than the Takashi Murakami-Louis Vuitton handbags, to say nothing of the one-time-only George Condo-Kanye West handbag collaboration." Not that their criticism will dissuade many H&M shoppers.
