eBay is trying to make it as easy as possible for shoppers to unload their gifts in exchange for cash via PayPal right after Christmas. The online auction site wants to rebrand British holiday Boxing Day as its own "Boxing Weekend," and eBay is setting up pop-up kiosks in malls across the country this weekend so you can sell off ill-fitting designer goods and unwanted hoverboards.
The kiosks will be around December 26th and December 27th at Westfields malls throughout the US. In California, DC, New Jersey, Washington, and Florida, there will be eBay Drop Boxes so all shoppers have to do is drop off a package with the prepaid eBay Valet shipping label. But at malls in San Francisco, Chicago, and Paramus, eBay experts will be on hand to help with the process at full-service eBay pop-ups. See all locations here.
During Boxing Weekend, eBay Valet fees will be waived, and anyone who prints an eBay Valet label will get to keep 100% of the profits after their items are sold.
Why would mall shoppers want to sell their presents on eBay instead of returning to the store? As Fortune notes, eBay boasts that some top-selling holiday items like the iPhone 5S received higher sales prices on the auction site than on competitor sites.
