The hunt is still on for Dior's new creative director after the departure of Raf Simons last fall. While designer Alber Elbaz has been considered a heavy favorite for the job, there's also talk from fashion execs and power players that Elbaz would have supporters if he started his own line.
Now Vogue UK floats the rumor that Alexander McQueen's creative director, Sarah Burton, is gathering momentum as the top pick for the job at Dior.
"If she were to be appointed to the top job at Dior, there would no doubt be lengthy negotiations, not least concerning where operations would take place as Burton and her family are currently located in London while the Dior atelier is in Paris," Vogue UK's Scarlett Conlon writes.
Vogue also thinks an announcement from Dior about its new creative director will happen soon. Dior's said so far that its in-house design team is handling the spring 2016 couture collection and fall 2016 ready-to-wear range, but spring/summer 2017 will be here soon enough.
