The first trailer for DC Comics’ Aquaman movie premiered at San Diego Comic-Con on July 21, and it looks exactly like you think it does: like the real-life iteration of an Entourage plot line.
There are a lot of bizarre elements to this trailer, which is essentially a vehicle for a drenched Jason Momoa to declare things like, “I am no king!” and then immediately deadpan a zinger at whoever happens to be around. It’s a lot of fun but also completely absurd, and looks sort of like the result of forcing a bot to watch a zillion hours of superhero movie trailers and spitting one back out.
Here is my personal favorite moment, when Momoa teaches his evil maritime brother King Orm some slang from the mainland:
Anyway, this is true especially when it comes to the wig situation in Aquaman. Amber Heard, whose character Mera is the queen of the underwater civilization Atlantis, has hair so vividly red that it could be seen from outer space, or, presumably, through deep oceanic caverns:
It’s safe to assume, due to the particular shade and the sheer volume of hair on Heard’s head, that this is a wig.
And here is that wig from the back:
It’s also safe to say that Amber Heard having extremely vivid red hair will form at least some part of her personality, thanks to this line from Aquaman right before he leaps from a plane without a parachute:
Amber Heard’s Big Red Wig premieres on December 21, but you can watch the full trailer below.
