More Tomfoolery: Just to Cap off a Spectacular Month of Gap Gaffes

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Our bad, we were, uh, totally kidding about those Pierre Hardy for Gap shoes hitting stores on October 25th. Turns out only one of those styles is from Pierre Hardy. The other one is just a plain old Gap-branded shoe. We apologize for the error and include a screenshot of the press release we got—perhaps it will shed light on how we drew our conclusions—after the jump.

Underneath this image that appeared at the top of the press release, it says:

October 22nd, 2010 [New York, NY] Gap is pleased to announce that their Pierre Hardy designer edition peep toe suede wedges and Gap brand lace up boots will be in select stores in New York, Chicago, and Houston on Monday, October 25th. On October 28th The Grove in Los Angeles and the Flood building in San Francisco will offer both shoe styles as well. Both the Pierre Hardy for Gap wedges and the Gap brand lace up boots retail for $195 and will be available at the following Gap stores.
Um. We swear, we actually did well on the reading comprehension section of the SATs.
