Highly recommended viewing: Jenny McCarthy's appearance on Chelsea Lately when she talks about how, following her hosting gig at the first-ever European MTV VMAs, her boyfriend beats up Stefano Gabbana, and then the police have to come to strip McCarthy of the Dolce & Gabbana dress she wanted to wear to have drinks with Madonna. Just in case you can't view video at work, we've transcribed part of the exchange after the jump.
I hosted the Video Music Awards in Italy, and this was the first time Europe had them. So I thought I was a big shot for doing the first one, but no one knew who the hell I was so it wasn't that big of a deal.· Chelsea Lately: Jenny McCarthy [YouTube]
So I go there and I'm so excited because it's Milan, and I'm like, Oh My God, I'm going to get to wear real designers, so I chose Dolce & Gabbana and Versace. So I do the show and I'm out of my mind, there are 70,000 people on stage screaming for me. You know at the end, you're like, God, I'm awesome, this is amazing!
So I go backstage and I had plans to go sit with Madonna and have some drinks afterwards, so I'm like, this is going to be the best night of my life. So I'm walking backstage and I'm with my boyfriend-manager at the time and all of sudden I see this guy come towards me, and he's like, [makes faces]. And my manager's like, what the hell is this freak doing coming towards you? And so he takes him and he bashes him against the wall, and I'm like, Oh My God, you totally saved my life, thank you!
I go in my dressing room and three seconds later, we hear Bang! The door gets slammed down, this guy walks in and he goes, "YOU! YOU BITCH! You have no idea who I am. Look at me, it's Gabbana!"
And it was the guy my boyfriend shoved. And I said, "Oh my god, Mr. Gabbana, I had no idea what you looked like!"
And he said, "You should know my face. This is Italy! You're wearing my dress!"
And I'm like, "Gabbana, I'm sorry! I love my red dress, thank you so much!"
He goes, "Take it off."
