Move over Hello Kitty: Simon Doonan’s Face Gets Inked on M&Ms

Barneys New York in Japan celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first store in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo this year with a little shindig this past weekend. As we perused interior goods in the little Jonathan Adler pop-up store set up inside, and reached for some party-nourishment in the form of M&Ms, we were greeted with a surprise—the smiling face of Barneys' Creative Director Simon Doonan printed on the milk chocolate candies.

He’s on all of the pink ones!” pointed out the excited Barneys staff.

We would accuse Doonan of narcissism but, as it turns out, he did have to share the candy-coated honor with Jonathan Adler and Barneys Japan Creative Director Katsuhiko Taniguchi—both of who had their mugs printed on M&Ms too. Good news? The limited-edition candy is for sale, with a pack going for about $9.50 each. — Misha Janette
