Every time that Karl Lagerfeld collaborates with another line or mounts some over-the-top dramatic runway show for Chanel, the world wonders how he does it all. No really, how does he? Sure, as many assistants and eager hands as he wants probably helps, but to be a photographer, illustrator, social personality and designer for Chanel, Fendi and K Karl Lagerfeld seems more than a bit intense. Well according to an exclusive on Mediabistro's UnBeige, he'll be busy with yet another project: Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's.
The high-low collaboration, rumored to include everything from denim to gowns, hasn't been officially confirmed but all signs point to yes:
Speculation about the venture has been rampant since early September, when Lagerfeld announced that he would not be showing his signature collection during Paris Fashion Week and instead had a fast fashion line in the works.... 'I wanted this for a long time,' Lagerfeld told WWD. 'I prefer to work in another way. I can’t compete with Chanel. I don’t want to be the poor child of myself. This has been my vision for years.'
For anyone who remembers the debut of Karl Lagerfeld for H&M back in 2004?one of the Swedish chain's first big designer deals?this could be a second chance to score a little Karl on the cheap. The H&M line hardly drew huge crowds back then, but it did sell out plenty fast.
Sounds like Macy's wants a piece of the delicious, delicious masstige pie.
