Looks like shopping-addicted Facebook obsessives will have even more reason to leave their Facebook up all day at work as HauteLook launches sample sales within the social networking site. “Our members spend one-third of their online time on Facebook. So we know that getting out of the e-mail inbox is going to be crucial for the flash-sale business,” Adam Bernhard, chief executive of the HauteLook tells the New York Times. “This is designed to go where the shoppers are instead of where they come to shop.”
Starting today, FB members who have "liked" HauteLook partner brands like Carol's Daughter, BCBG and Diane Von Furstenberg will see the sale notifications pop-up in their newsfeed. Shoppers need to first be a Hautelook member, but the interesting and time efficient element is that they can make their purchases directly through Hautelook on Facebook. So at this point, Facebook will basically own you, but that's another matter all together.
