High heels, Wonderbras, perfume, spray tans, control-top underwear, miniskirts, bustiers—throw them all out the window, ladies. If you really want to nab a Prince Charming of your very own, sew yourself a shapeless sheer tube.
Eight years ago Kate Middleton—now the Princess-to-be of Wales—first caught Prince William's eye while wearing this tube-y dress on a catwalk at a student fashion show at St. Andrew's. Designed by fellow student-at-the-time Charlotte Todd and made from about £30 of fabric, this is the look that stole young William's heart.
"She looked fabulous and I think she could become a style icon like Princess Diana," Todd told the Daily Mail. "The only person I’d probably give it to is her—maybe in exchange for a wedding invitation. Of course I would love to design her wedding dress too."
Since Kate Middleton's engagement to Prince William, the value of this dress has increased to about £10,000, with estimates that it could skyrocket to £100,000 if Middleton were to eventually become Queen of England. "I imagine she could get someone to pay £10,000 for it now," a London auction house told the Mail. "But in years to come if Kate was on the throne it could reach up to £100,000. It was the same with Princess Diana’s clothes."
