The fur is flying on the DKNY Facebook page, where PETA took over yesterday with anti-fur statements that stayed up for hours. Thirteen users even changed their profile pics to spell out DK BUNNY BUTCHER in order to reach the over 200K DKNY fans. (We're wondering how the logistics of that went.)
In addition to the Facebook protest, PETA also held demonstrations outside of Donna Karan’s New York offices, retail outlets that carry her line and even showed up events she has hosted. When Mashable asked Senior Campaigner Ashley Byrne why PETA turned to Facebook specifically, she said the organization “hope[d] to reach new audiences who may not yet know about the cruelty that goes into every piece of fur used in her line.”
As of this morning, the posts were taken down and some Facebook users reported that DKNY had reported their comments as abusive. — Christianna Ablahad
