New York's Football Stars Assemble Joe Joseph Abboud Care Packages for Returning Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Does your fella despise shopping but loooove football? Maybe this retail experience will change his mind: Tomorrow afternoon, from 12:30 p.m. til 2 p.m., New York football stars Kevin Boss, Shaun O’Hara, Matt Dodge, Osi Umenyiora, Hakeem Nicks, Corey Webster, Terrell Thomas, Bear Pascoe, and Deon Grant will be making personal appearances at the JCPenney in Herald Square, Manhattan, to help assemble care packages for returning war veterans to help them transition into civilian life and the workforce in style.

The initiative is a collaboration between IAVA (Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America) and Joseph Abboud, whose Welcome Home Joe initiative has already provided Iraq and Afghanistan veterans with $1 million in gift certificates to purchase professional clothing as they transition back into civilian life.
