Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If, like us, you've felt a bit cut adrift with nowhere to turn since Martin Margiela left his eponymous Maison last year, the 1stdibs.com "Resurrection's 20 Years of Martin Margiela: The Marcia Berger Collection" sale will be like a cool salve on a still-painful wound. Or something like that.
No newfangled re-issued classics here, this sale is all about the real thing—nearly-impossibly-to-find original pieces (many unworn) will be up for grabs, including this motocross jacket (above) from the 2000-2001 Oversize collection, an over-the-head trench coat from 2005, a duvet coat from 2000, and even pieces from the early 1990s. Marcia Berger, the clothes' former owner, was an avid Margiela collector from 1989 to 2008. When she passed away, Berger had more than 1,000 pieces in her collection. Over 300 Margiela items from her estate will be offered online to the public beginning Saturday morning at 10 a.m. ET. Racked National Readers can get in on an exclusive preview 48 hours in advance by clicking here.
