Our trusty, intrepid Racked National reporter, Lauren Frankfort is coming at you, liveblogging from inside the MaxAzria fall-winter 2010 show at Bryant Park. From the interminable wait in line to the non-stop model-stomping on the runway to the post-show euphoria and crush to get out (alive), here's her minute-by-minute report.
Who/What: Max Azria, the designer behind this, his eponymous label, as well as Herve Leger and BCBG, is best known for his massive celebrity following, figure-flattering dresses, and masterful use of color. We want Max Azria's clothes, and Max Azria gives the people what they want.
Where/When: The Tent at Bryant Park, 2 p.m. February 16, 2010
1:45 p.m.: Just got to Bryant Park
1:48 p.m.: Waiting on line with some intense beats and cheers coming through the tarp next to the line
1:50 p.m.: Spotting mostly flat leather boots on line. I guess no one was brave enough to whip out the heel in this snow.
1:53 p.m.: Sooo many down jackets and wet hair.
1:55 p.m.: They are letting us in!
1:56 p.m.: Spotted Bryanboy!
1:59 p.m.: Waiting for the editors to trickle in—all the major print publications are sitting near the middle of the runway.
2:01 p.m.: We are sitting smack dab in the middle of the Seventeen staff.
2:03 p.m.: Got really excited for a sec, thought I spotted Anna but, alas, it was just a mere alias
2:07 p.m.: Oh, celebrities... come out, come out wherever you are!
2:14 p.m.: The photographers are milling about, waiting.
2:15 p.m.: Jill Zarin just walked in!
2:17 p.m.: Two pre-teen-looking girls are sitting front and middle at the top of the runway.
2:24 p.m.: The photographers just swarmed the blonde actress [AnnaLynne McCord] from 90210.
2:26 p.m.: The seats are filling up!
2:29 p.m.: The music just got really loud and now it's soft, does that mean it's starting soon?
2:30 p.m.: Lights are going down!
2:31 p.m.: First look: sheer ivory with structural paneling
2:32 p.m.: V-neck jumpsuit. Interesting mixture of mesh. Now some leather and cotton.
2:32 p.m.: The music just got really loud and conflicting.
2:34 p.m.: The hair is pulled back into sleek straight ponytails, just like the sleek, architectural, tonal designs.
2:34 p.m.: Camel leather?
2:35 p.m.: Some wool jackets are coming out now—with a little flounce. Still so many straight, simple designs in nude.
2:36 p.m.: We have some heather grey! With leather knee-length skirt with mesh and wool top and a jagged hem.
2:37 p.m.: The music is picking up and so are the looks. Some draping.
2:37 p.m.: A really interesting black dress came out with triangular blocks of leather and wool.
2:39 p.m.: One dress came out with an accented sequin strap. There are some more sequin bands on the skirt of a different dress—really subtle and adds a nice pop to the different bands of fabric.
2:40 p.m. Finale! Kind of came as a surprise.
