Say Aloha to Thakoon's Debut Menswear for Aloha Rag

New, 1 comment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Can't get enough Thakoon? Neither can we! Racked National caught up with the designer as he popped champagne to celebrate the launch of his collaboration with Hawaii-based retailer Aloha Rag. A simple cardigan never looked so good in an oversized fit and plaid print.

He's always been a fan of the store, Thakoon says, and the opportunity came about when the people at Aloha Rag found out it's one of Thakoon's favorite places to shop for—wait for it—cardigans. This project marks Thakoon's first dip into the menswear pool, but he says he plans to create more pieces and, perhaps, even design an entire collection. After his successful collaboration with Gap a few years back and an appearance in "The September Issue," Thakoon's been in high demand. With designs like these, something tells us he'll be around for awhile. -by Getteline Rene and Trevor Swain
