Monday Morning Fake-It-Til-You-Make-It: Ellis Faas Concealer

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On the list of eyebag-exacerbating events, "Mondays" rank pretty high up there. For years, we've been looking for the holy grail of concealers—we love Yves Saint Laurent's Touche Eclat, but sometimes (Mondays), a girl needs a little more coverage, you know? Enter Ellis Faas, purveyors of the best concealer we've tried in years. Its liquid formula is non-drying, blends seamlessly with the touch of a finger, and it doesn't clump up around dry skin or zits like some other products tend to. Most important of all, it does exactly what we need it to do: completely cover blemishes and under-eye circles without any weird concealer side-effects.

Ellis Faas is sold all over the world, but just launched Stateside early this year. Every product in the line is a liquid—the reasoning being that most of the human body is liquid, making the products easier to blend. The extensive color palette—eyes, lips, cheeks, skin—are inspired by a "human color" spectrum, an idea we really love, and that really works!

From the tawny peach of a freckle to the pure, vivid red that pulses through our veins, the ELLIS FAAS Human Colours collection looks to the human palette for inspiration. The colours that exist naturally in our bodies are complex and rich, but they're also universal, shared by each and every one of us. Based on this universal spectrum, ELLIS FAAS Human Colours complement all skin tones
So far, we've only tried the Ellis Faas concealer, which came with the press kit at launch, but we're excited to test out other products from the line as well, because the concealer is awesome. Ellis Faas cosmetics are available in the United States exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman, currently only in-store or by telephone order.
