Curious George: A Curiosity Store Collectors' Dreams Are Made Of

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Curious George Collectibles is a store that urban legends are made of—George's (he's a real person, check out his photo on the placard in the last gallery image) carefully curated collection of curiosities, collectibles, and covet-worthy accessories is, for the most part, housed behind the counter or in shiny glass cases.

From vintage guns—the prize piece here is a prop gun used by Kurt Russell in the movie Tombstone—to $375 handmade beaded and braided belts, to a dish of snakehead keyrings, this is the kind of store that, sight unseen, exists only in the urbanite imagination.
