Isabel Toledo for Payless

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Isabel Toledo will collaborate with Payless to create a shoe and handbag line, which will hit stores this September, reports WWD. The bags and shoes will retail for under $40—compare this to Toledo's multi-thousand-dollar eponymous fashion line pieces, which sell at luxury stores such as Barneys. “My business is quite couture and precise,” she told WWD. “This is taking into account all different lifestyles. In a way, it’s the closest thing to real life for me. And I feel like I’m all of these women. Working with Payless gives me an opportunity to reach so many women, and it’s a treat to be able to touch as many women as I will. It’s really a collection for women from all walks of life, literally. And it’s been interesting as I’ve had to have a different design hat on." [WWD]
