We like your shirt, Zac.Zac Posen for Target launches in New York City tomorrow night—with a 24-hour shopping party beginning at 11 p.m.—and will arrive online and in stores nationwide April 25.
A nearly-ten year strong label, Zac Posen has cultivated a loyal following of clientele enamored with his figure-flattering curvaceous cuts and innovative use of color. Now, he's bringing the Posen knack for flair to the masses, via Target.
"I was actually approached to do a line for Target earlier in my career," Posen told Racked National, "but at the time I was really focused on building and perfecting my high-end collection. When I was re-approached this time around—about a year ago—the time felt right to branch out and create pieces for a much broader audience. Pieces that are accessible on a number of levels."
While adapting a luxury aesthetic to the mass market can be challenging, Posen's exuberance and enthusiasm yielded heaps of inspiration—"There were so many pieces I loved," he says. So many that the most difficult part of the design process was "narrowing down the collection."
"I never design with just one woman in mind," Posen says. "I am inspired by all women, all of the time. My inspiration [for Zac Posen for Target] was the best summer of a girl's life. This collection is about having fun, being free—living, loving and embracing life."
