Eyjafjallajokull Erupts: Mass Flight Cancellations and A Printed Tunic

New, 4 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

When Eyjafjallajokull erupted in Iceland yesterday, spewing volcanic ash into the sky over Europe—and causing sweeping flight cancellations throughout the UK and France—Icelandic fashion label E-Label found it, rather, inspiring. So inspiring, in fact, that they've released a printed tunic top featuring the image of the eruption.

"We held our first ever Reykjavik Fashion Festival on the first day the volcano erupted," co-founder Asta Kristjansdottir told BlackBook, "so we took that as a good luck sign and sent our design team to the volcano to come back with sketches and photographs of the lava shooting into the air."

No word yet on pricing or when the top is expected to ship. All we know is that it's super-hot! Ha.
