So after this morning's palaver of a sample sale opening, fashion rioting in the streets, and getting shut down by the police, the American Apparel Rummage Sale in London is set to reopen tomorrow with beefed up security. From the event's Facebook page:
Today's response at our first Rummage Sale in London was overwhelming and humbling. Dangerous behavior in the queue prompted the police to close the event down until they could ensure security for everyone involved. In our many rummage sales, we've never witnessed anything like it and are disappointed and sorry that it happened. Fortunately we were able to work out an urgent arrangement for extra security that will allow us to continue to run the rummage sale as planned this weekend and Monday.More than 150,000 pieces will be available to sample sale customers who are willing to brave the crowds for a second day, and the company's provided some discount codes for UK customers who'd prefer to stay in the safety of their own homes—
· Enter code AALNDNFAV to get 40% off at their Rummage Sale Favorites site
· Code LNDNRMG25 gets UK customers 25% of the entire UK webstore
Print out the Facebook event page to get 25% off in any UK American Apparel brick-and-mortar store.
What have we learned from this whole mess? British people really love their cut-price American Apparel, and never get in between a British person and a really good sample sale.
