Premiering tonight at the Tribeca Film Festival: the documentary "Vidal Sassoon The Movie" is a full-length film about the man many credit with inventing the geometric bob hairdo. The movie features archival footage, commentary from his contemporaries (including Mary Quant!), and interview footage with Sassoon himself. "If you are an artist, architect or a photographer, there are libraries full of fabulous books and reference and articles about people in that field. But hairdressers pretty much have nothing," Michael Gordon, the founder of Bumble and Bumble who started the film project, told WWD. "I wanted to give them their hero so they could feel good about themselves, sit up straight and go, 'Wow.' It's kind of my gift back to the hairdressing industry." [WWD]
