The team behind art-book-magazine-collectible periodical Visionaire have announced that its next issue, due out this June, will be dedicated to the late designer Alexander McQueen.
"In 2003, McQueen came to our SoHo of?ce and gallery to discuss collaborating on an issue of Visionaire—an issue that never came to be. This is our tribute to him," said Visionaire founders Stephen Gan, Cecilia Dean and James Kaliardos. Artists and creatives on board to help out include photographer Nick Knight, Lady Gaga, Steven Klein, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Meisel, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, David Sims, Mario Testino, Sean Ellis, and photographer Sebastian Faena.
As always, Visionaire will be produced in a limited quantity—this time, 1,500, and will sell for $295 each. Each issue will come in a case designed by McQueen's studio and will be wrapped in brocade from spring 2010, the designer's last collection. The paper stock will have wildflower seeds embedded in it—so, if it's ever discarded and watered, flowers will bloom from its remains.
