Vogue contributing editor Andre Leon Talley appeared on the Martha Stewart Show this morning (wearing the Ralph Rucci get-up he wore yesterday, while hosting the Manolo Blahnik sample sale). Talley and Stewart chit-chatted about fashion and how once-upon-a-time Stewart modeled for Chanel:

MS: How’s everything going?
ALT: Well, the most extraordinary thing was that Karl Lagerfeld was in town and he said to me that you were once a Chanel model, which I did not know. That’s fascinating!
MS: Way before Karl?
ALT: That doesn’t matter! And I tweeted—I said, ‘Did you know that Martha Stewart was once a Chanel model in the days of Coco?’ And people were fascinated.
MS: It was only one summer.
ALT: That’s all you need: a summer. Did you get a beautiful suit?
MS: I had a beautiful suit and a beautiful black...
ALT: ...Chanel coat?
MS: It had beautiful gold buttons.
ALT: Do you still have it?
MS: I do.
ALT: Fantastic. Do you ever wear it?
MS: Do you want to know something? Truthfully, it doesn’t fit me anymore.
ALT: That’s okay—keep it anyway.
MS: I was, like, 116 pounds.
ALT: That’s okay! Listen, you still look great.
MS: Fashion has always been very interesting to me.
ALT: Absolutely.
MS: But it’s more about the craftsmanship and the stitchery.
ALT: And the little buttons?you love all the details.
