Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Did you know that PVC shoe company Melissa has a magazine called Plastic Dreams? We've never seen plasticky shoes photographed so beautifully. Stuck-in-the-retro starlet and style icon Dita von Teese graces the cover of issue number three.

Since its founding, Melissa has created more than 500 different styles of footwear—including designer collaborations with Vivienne Westwood and architect-visionary Zaha Hadid—and made over 80 million pairs of shoes!
