Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Remember that scene from last week's episode of The City where Kelly Cutrone tells Whitney Port that Elle has put her up for some sort of feature at Rue La La? (And Whitney thinks that Olivia Palermo [who, btw, is not a bitch, but just plays one on TV] may have made it happen, when really she had nothing to do with it?) Well, whatever it is on Rue La La is happening tomorrow—and the other young designer involved is Bryan Reyes, who'd been a well-respected fixture on the New York designer scene for ages.
Looks like the selection for sale on Rue La La tomorrow will be curated by Elle's editors (Will I'm-not-an-editor-but-I-just-play-one-on-TV Olivia Palermo help with the selection? Doubtful). We're excited to see what goes on offer.
We've always sort of wondered what the deal is with Port's line Whitney Eve. While the show posits that she launched the label with that show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week a few seasons ago, we totally bought a Whitney Eve branded dress at Barneys Co-op way before the line debuted on the runway. Anyone have any background info they care to share?
