Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you thought women were the only ones forced to contend with the burgeoning sweatpants-in-inappropriate-situations trend, then check out this new Tide commercial, sent to us by an eagle-eyed Racked tipster, where one guy tries to pass off his sweatpants as "sweatslacks" and his buddies give him grief about it:

"What are those, sweatpants?"
"They're grey, cotton pants."
"Sweatpants are not pants."
"Comfortable, low key, cool, grey slacks."
"Slacks?"
"Yeah."
"On this planet, we call them sweatpants."
