Marc Jacobs Gets Nekkid for Bang, His Men's Fragrance Campaign

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In the great tradition of designers appearing in their own ads (Tom Ford) and, also, designers appearing naked in their own ads (Yves Saint Laurent), uber-designer Marc Jacobs will appear naked in the ad campaign for his new men's fragrance, Bang.

"Once I agreed to be the model, I couldn't see what I would wear to express this. We tried it with clothes, but it didn't work. Then Juergen [Teller, who shot the campaign] had the idea for the silver Mylar, and it all came together. The silver Mylar also gives it that flash, that bang," Jacobs told WWD. He lies on a Mylar bed in the photo.

Bang will debut July 30 at Bloomingdale's and the ad will appear in magazines beginning this September. For more conservative markets, there is a cropped version of the image—showing Jacobs from the shoulders-up.
