The rumors about Giles Deacon taking the helm at the beleaguered house of Emanuel Ungaro are true. WWD confirmed this morning that the British designer—who currently designs his own eponymous line and a mass market line for High Street chain New Look—will become Ungaro's newest creative director. Deacon previously designed a much-heralded capsule collection for Mulberry.
"I obviously don’t want to infringe upon my own line, but I like things that
are very feminine, lots of color, great prints, great quality, some unusual
cuts. All of those things that I like in the world of fashion design I’m
going to bring to what I feel is appropriate for the Ungaro woman," Deacon told WWD.
His first collection will be presented during Paris Fashion Week this October.
After a change in ownership, the house of Ungaro has gone through a multitude of creative directors since 2004.
