Miami lawyer Brittney Horstman was forced to take her bra off when visiting a client at the Miami Federal Detention Center last month because the guards didn't want her wearing an underwire bra inside. But when she returned from the women's room without her bra on, she was barred from entering again, this time because she wasn't wearing a bra. All this, despite the fact there women defense attorneys are exempt from the rules barring women from wearing underwire bras into detention centers in Miami.
"So, simply because I was a woman who wore a specific bra, my client was denied access to his attorney today," Horstman e-mailed a group of lawyers. "This is completely unacceptable."
What else is illegal to wear at the federal detention center? Above the Law dug up a section of the rules and regulations (above), which lists sweatpants, sleeveless tops, spandex pants, plain white T-shirts, and hairpieces (hey guys, no toupees for you!).
