Maria Luisa to Close

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Maria Luisa, one of the most influential and iconic boutiques in Paris, will close its store on Rue Rouget de L'Isle this August. Maria Luisa Poumaillou opened shop at 2 Rue Cambon in 1988 and, last year, was appointed fashion editor of Printemps department store, in which Maria Luisa has a shop-in-shop outpost. Poumaillou says she will refocus her retail energies on the Maria Luisa e-commerce site. Her boutique at 38 Rue du Mont Thabor will remain open, and may be dedicated to her signature private label. The Maria Luisa stores in Hong Kong, Doha, and Qatar will remain open. [WWD]
