Is a Jason Wu Handbag Line Next?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What's a young highly sought-after designer to do after a successful ready-to-wear line? In Jason Wu's case, launch a handbag line—or at least that's what Vogue UK is reporting. The Michelle Obama anointed designer tells Vogue UK "[My eyewear collection] is only the beginning of my accessories range, stay tuned for later this year - there is more to come. Now that I have an established ready-to-wear business it seems to be the natural step to expand into the world of Jason Wu. There is so much more I would like to do to complete the vision." Hmm....Kind of cryptic. After an eyewear collection and doll clothes, a handbag line would be the next logical step. No additional details or a projected launch date have surfaced, but we'll start saving our money now, just in case. [Vogue UK]
