Trend: The Pentax Optio I-10 Looks Low-Tech, Acts Hi-Tech

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Where fashion goes, everything follows, and with the recent spate of emphasis on authenticity, heritage, and a re-examination of good old-fashioned design, it's no surprise that consumer electronics are getting an overhaul as well.

Check out the retro-inspired design of the new Pentax Optio I-10. We've got one on loan right now and have been playing with it during Berlin fashion week and, tonight, on opening night at Barcelona fashion week. While the stylings of the I-10 definitely ring the old-school SLR bell, its 12.1 megapixels and other newfangled features—including a central flash and speaker unit, 5X zoom, and HD video capture—are all about 2010.
