Summertime, Livin' Easy
Lori:We're in the midst of high summer. It is hands down my favorite time of year, maybe because I was born in the summer, but I never want this time to end. Which is why I can't begin to say the F word (yes, it's that four letter word: Fall). So this is when I really embrace all the things truly necessary for this time.
A hat: do not leave home without one, city or country. I've always been a Borsalino fan. The coolest classic ever, but I must say this year I'm kind of obscessed with their women's hats. They are still cool with great details going on along with great shapes. I love the printed fedora, but i'm always into my boy caps. Check them out.
No one will think you're too cool for school for having on sunglasses this time of year. I collect sunglasses like I collect scarves, jewels...everything (yikes!). My fave pair for the last two years are the Shuron Sidewinders from Selima, right). They're totally old school, but just a little better shape. The glasses come in the best shades—opaque and transparent. I always grade my lenses so they go from clear inside to dark sunglasses outside.
What can we say, but the flip flop rules these summer days. Havaianas has taken them to a whole new level—every size, strap color, print, even jewels and chars of your choice can be put on while you wait. They're a wardrobe unto themselves.
The T-shirt: Racked regulars know, I'm all about the T-shirt. This time of year, when that's all you really need, this one says it all. I love animal prints, and the abstract zebra with a few sparkly stones is my fave, fave, fave. It's from my line, Logo Instant Chic.
And with my T-shirt is yoga pants. At the beach, it's the uniform. I'm always searching for a new, fun color or style, and last week I found the most comfortable, crazy soft, pair by Beyond Yoga. I am now fully obscessed, and the colors are the most gorgeous ever. Not quite day-glo, but almost. I'm happy, happy, happy just looking at them...and I love happy clothes.
The hair, what is normally the bane of many people's summer months, is easily fixed with this product I found to be a miracle. It's one stop shopping: shampoo and conditioner in one, and the texture of my hair is like a new head of hair. It's called Chaz Dean's Wen Cleasing Conditioner in lavender or green tea. And in an outdoor shower...well, I never want to leave.
And of course, the sunscreen is so important. There are so many great ones. I'm into my Cle de Peau refining fluid foundation. My friend Lucia Peroni does such and amazing job with this line. I'm addicted to it all. I also love Pat Wexler's tinted moisturizer—It's so light. I did a little survey: I have a friend who will not leave home without her Kate Sommerville sunscreen. I have another friend who loves her Aveeno. Find the one that's right for you, and use it!
Summer must remain our best friend. There's nothing else like it...relish in it. I do, and I hope you do too.
p.s. I do love fall clothes, and can't wait for them either...more to come
