Jelly Shoes for All! Akira Chicago Opens a Melissa Pop-Up

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

According to the official @MelissaShoes twitter, the footwear-only Akira location in Chicago's Loop, on South State Street, will be overdosing on the jelly shoes via a pop-up shop.

Melissa, a Brazilian brand that creates only fashionable shoes of a hypo-allergenic plastic infused with a slight bubble gum scent, can be tricky to find. Akira will carry their usual line supplemented by the more daring Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes and the popular Campana Brothers flats. Find them at 122 S. State Street until the end of the summer.
