Canada Gets Underpants

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Finally, Canada gets underpants! Just kidding. They've had underpants in Canada for at least five years. (We kid.) But our northerly neighbors did just get their very first Victoria's Secret lingerie emporium. According to the Times Colonist, people had been lining up since the wee hours: "Brittany Passante, 26, was one of the first in line. She and a friend arrived at the mall at 5 a.m. and by 7:30 a.m. they were near the front of a line which security guards estimated at 150. The store didn’t open to the public until 10:30, when reports pegged the lineup at about 300. Unlike the recent Apple Store openings which attracted similar crowds, the lineup was nearly all women or girls under 30. “It’s the first Victoria’s Secret in Canada and I’m here for the experience,” Passante said. “I moved here from Arizona and it’s been a year and a half for a Victoria’s Secret. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.”' [TC]
