The Mirror's Interview with Audrina Patridge is Pretty Much Priceless

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Some choice things we learned from The Mirror's interview with ex-The Hills star Audrina Patridge—whose primary storyline throughout the faux-reality show's four seasons was dating and breaking up with male-model-slash-hairstylist-slash-drummer Justin Bobby over and over and over again—include the fact that Patridge is embarking on an acting career and she's got her heart set on playing a period drama, a la The Tudors.

"What’s next?" she says. "I’d love to do a period drama, like The Tudors. I’m auditioning lots right now, I don’t get anything handed to me. It’s hard, but you have to keep trying."

Other profound insights into the psyche of Audrina Patridge include the fact that the most expensive thing she recently bought was a $5,000 Chanel surfboard that she uses as bedroom decor. "It's too pretty to risk chipping it," she explains.

Also, despite being the cast member with the second-biggest fake boobs on the show (after Heidi Montag, of course), Patridge disavows plastic surgery, saying: "Lots of people in LA get surgery and it’s funny because they all start looking the same. I think it’s important to have your own look and keep what you’re born with. It’s not something I’m going to do any time soon."

"If I’m in a bikini on the show I don’t want to be thinking, ‘Oh God, is my butt sticking out?’ So if I had a beach scene coming up, I’d go to the gym a little more. A good tip is bronzer – it really slims you and makes you look toned. I always had a St Tropez spray tan before wearing a bikini."

On being an accidental fashion icon: "I did my own hair and make-up every day on the show, but I wasn’t trying to be a style icon. I’d usually just throw on a T-shirt and jeans. It was great when we had scenes sitting at a table because I only had to worry about what I wore on my top half."

On her wardrobe: "The best things I wore on the series were a pair of thigh high Lanvin boots. But we were only allowed to wear things once for continuity. They’d take a picture and then I’d never be able to wear that outfit again.

On her red-carpet fashion m.o.: "For red carpets I love wearing things that are bold, classy, sexy and flirty all at the same time. So instead of a tight dress I’ll wear a baggy, short, backless one with some cute knee-high boots. I love Kate Moss and Sienna Miller’s style. I can’t wait to go shopping in Topshop while I’m in the UK."
