As part of Billy Reid's "GQ's Best New Menswear Designer in America" award—an award which also included a $50,000 cash infusion—Reid had the opportunity to design a collection with Levi's. The collection will hit selling floors at Bloomingdale's stores, bloomingdales.com, and Billy Reid stores on September 10.
Billy Reid for Levi's 505 jeans ($178) are "inspired by a pair of extensively repaired 505's from the Levi's archive," says GQ. The apron bag ($150) is made from an apron—the one that inspired Reid's collection. The oxford shirt ($150) features indigo stitching and a Levi's signature pocket.
"Our idea was to focus on the workwear and outdoor categories from the early days of the Levi’s brand," Reid told WWD. "We were able to work with some incredible people in the Levi’s archives and found an old work apron from the turn of the century, complete with all its natural wear, tear and stains?.The apron became a true muse, and its influence is present in each piece of the collection."
