Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Well, at least someone's made out like a bandit in the closing of San Diego's Saks Fifth Avenue—the folks over at Fashion Makes Me Horny looted/bought/we're not sure how they got the store's 3.5-foot tall signage.

Are they iconic, a collector’s item, future planters, part of an art project or simply garbage? Should I post them on the side of my house as a joke? At any rate, they’ll be part of my home decor for a long, long time as an ode to one of the world’s best department stores.
Think it was an impulse buy?
