Nordstrom's new 122,000 square foot Santa Monica Place location opened Friday. The department store's other location in Los Angeles is located at The Grove shopping center.
"Seeing the business that we could do out of The Grove in 120,000 square feet, and that the customer appreciated having an edited assortment, really helped us," president Erik Nordstrom told WWD. "If there is a great market and we can only get 120,000 square feet, we know we can have a real compelling edited offer. It forces us to really know the community."
The Santa Monica location is the store's first to include a trend-driven handbag and jewelry department that stocks brands including House of Harlow 1960 and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. Clothing brands on offer include Alice + Olivia, Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
