How did this happen?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Cut is reporting that Real Housewife of New York Alex McCord (you know, the naked-photos one with the husband everyone thinks is gay) is scheduled to walk in five shows during New York fashion week—including Malan Breton and Susan Ciancolo. Not only that, but McCord has also signed with New York Models—their celebrity division—so there will probably be more modeling gigs in her future. Of course, the first question The Cut asked is the first question that popped into our heads: "How did this happen?" McCord gave them a straightforward answer: "There are these girls out there who are 15, but there's definitely room for women who are not 15... like me." [The Cut]
