Red Bull and Fashion Week—two things that don't really seem to match. But, in New York anything goes—just look at the way we dress! This is especially true when designers need cash sponsors.
Tuesday night Red Bull invited Fashion Week into their event space for Unite Unveiled—a group show featuring three Project Runway alumni: Althea Harper, Jesus Estrada and Gordana Gehlhausen.
What did we learn? That even off-site models gorge on Pop Chips. That hosting stuff like this is a breeze: Ali Landry barely got out of her seat and when she did we're assuming it wasn't for free. That even outside Milk and the tents this is for serious: Minks, little black dresses and multiple staffers scrubbing scuffs off a runway just before first walk. That fashion people are sometimes semi-human and empathetic: A sound glitch left models walking in silence and when music was finally restored the audience applauded. Oh, and everything's better with vodka (ie: Red Bull—yuck, and Gordana's collection—er, an acquired taste).
