ABC Family already tarnished the cult reputation of Romy and Michele with a hideous 2005 prequel starring the always-forgettable Katherine Heigl. Five years later and they're about to do it again with another one of the most quotable girl-centric, high school comedies of all time: Mean Girls.
Mean Girls 2 premiers this Sunday on the basic cable staple, with a DVD release to follow in February (Romy and Michele: In the Beginning was never released on DVD). It stars a bunch of very young people with other ABC Family credits to their résumés—none of whom we're familiar with—including Meaghan Martin, Maiara Walsh, Jennifer Stone, Nicole Gale Anderson, Claire Holt and Diego Boneta. Oh, and Tim Meadows managed to clear his schedule in order to reprise his role as the clueless principal.
In other news: The clothes look pretty terrible; the unpopulars are feigning some sort of '90s grunge thing (emo must be so over); the rich bitch traded her Lexus for a Porsche; and the Internets look to be imperative to the plot. Is the fabled burn book now a Tumblr blog? How relevant! Hey look, a trailer:
