Yesterday evening we hung out with Macy's at the tip-top of Downtown's New Museum to celebrate the launch of the department store's newest private label. Called Bar III, it's a pretty extensive contemporary collection of womenswear and menswear that is both young-hip-relevant and pretty wallet-friendly.
But the most notable aspect of the launch was the styling. The printed lookbook, the models, the whole set-up—everything was put together by the bloggers behind Fashion Toast, Sea of Shoes, Feels Like White Lightning and Street Etiquette. And they did good—complete looks came off much more Rachel Comey or J. Lindeberg than your aunt's Pennsylvania Macy's. We loved the prints, the shots of orange and yellow, the jauntily-lined anoraks, and the slim, classic two-button suits that retail for under $500.
Macy's will debut the collection on February 10th at a Bar III pop-up on Fifth Avenue and 20th Street—and inexpensive suit buyers take note: They'll tailor your new suit for you for free if you get one at the pop-up! After the temporary shop closes on March 6th, Bar III with hit Macy's flagship shops across the country.
