Independently owned and operated since 1932, the Harvard Book Store is the sort of winding and inspiring, perfect bookstore that disappeared from most cities over the course of the last two decades. Full of limitless possibilities—peruse a daunting literature section, an impressive art book selection, a trove of academic texts and tomes representative of that university right across the street (the one you may or may not have heard of), even a wide range of graphic novels and comics.
Downstairs—amongst lower ceilings and walls tacked with comics, clippings and vintage book covers—there's an excess of remainder books at bargain prices and a truly impressive array of used books. The prices are such that it's pretty difficult to leave empty-handed. Throw in special orders and e-commerce, a slew of author events, and booksellers who don't act like approaching them is a personal affront—and you have our very favorite book shop.
