Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Toasty-toes obsessives and connoisseurs of waterproof snowboots will be well-familiar with the amazing Rubber Duck Brand Snowjoggers (right)—those puffa-sneaker-boots that look like what nerdy second-graders wore in 1987 that have been everywhere every winter for the past few years. A few years ago we met the founder of the company—a Danish guy who was living in LA—but since 2009, we've noticed the shoes disappearing from the market, with only the plaid iterations available last winter. We can't even find the brand's homepage online anymore, so we actually have no idea what's happened.

BUT good news: we found these (top photo) brand-new-for-winter-2011 Rubber Duck Brand leather and eco-fur moon boots today at Luisa Via Roma. Priced at $209, they're our pick for must-have crazy-looking winter boots of the year—they look super-warm, no? Perfect for sloshing through a blustery snowy winter season, we think.
