Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail isn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.

We love Terri Nunn, the lead vocalist for the band Berlin. She and the band left their mark on music in the '80s with songs like No More Words, Sex (I'm a...) and their number one hit, Take My Breath Away. We caught Berlin opening for INXS earlier this year, and were thrilled to discover that Terri's voice is still amazing. Her most recent release All the Way In includes reworked recordings of some of her biggest hits, and she's currently working on new music with the Dust Brothers. Terri can also be heard hosting the podcast Between the Sheets on HotTalkLa.com. We recently chatted with Terri and she shared what is definitely this series' most dramatic Buyer's Remorse story yet...
Racked: Terri, can you tell us about a time you've had Buyer's Remorse?
Terri Nunn: My husband and I got this cat—we had two boys who were really young at the time, and we just decided to get a cat. This cat was so loving when we went to the pound to get her. She was the most loving wonderful cat. She was on our shoulders, she was purring, she was showing her tummy to us and just couldn't be more wonderful.
So we brought this cat home and literally it was like Jeckyll and Hyde. Everything changed. She turned into this unhappy, screaming, not friendly cat. She hated the boys, woke us up in the middle of the night with this whining crying screaming, then went outside and cried and screamed outside.
Finally, we moved to this new house that we're in now. And we didn't know there were coyotes around here. And we had this door, this cat door that was already there. So we let her out at night and she did her usual screaming and crying—basically, "Come eat me." And one night we heard this crashing outside and shuffling. I didn't know what was going on—it was obviously a fight. And we thought it was a fight with another cat. Well, we never saw her again. And then we found out, "Yeah there are coyotes around here." Since then, people have told us they've lost dogs and if you had little things out at night they were going to disappear.
I'd had pets my whole life, but I'd never had an animal that was so diametrically different than when I first met the animal. It was a weird experience. It was almost like she was saying, "I'll fool them into adopting me and then I'll show my true self."
