Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail isn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.
Witty fashion and costume designer Chris March is one of our all-time favorite Project Runway contestants. His over-the-top, yet stylish designs really stood out—we still covet his Stephen Sprouse-like dress from Season Four's Hershey challenge. Starting this Tuesday, October 4th, Chris comes back to television with his new Bravo series, Mad Fashion With Chris March. In it, he makes daring one-of-a-kind of fashions for private clients. To kick things off, we asked Chris to share his own Buyer's Remorse story with us. Much to our surprise, there are no drag queens, sequins or celebrities in it.
Racked: Chris can you tell us about a time you had Buyer's Remorse?
Chris March: The only thing I can really think of is the one time I bought a pair of Prada shoes that were beige suede from the Barneys Warehouse Sale. I was so excited to buy Prada shoes, that I really didn't notice that they were actually size Thirteen and I wear a size Nine—'cause I wanted Prada shoes! And when I got them home, I looked at them and I was like, "Oh God I can never wear these." I looked like I was wearing snow skis.
I used to sell shoes a long, long time ago, and you really have to learn how to feel them right when you put them on. Otherwise you get home and you go, "Ouch."
