Marimekko Opens in New York

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This is what we did at last night's opening party for the first-ever standalone Marimekko flagship store in New York City: ate a lot of salmiakki (licorice) and Fazer chocolate. Meanwhile, our sister site Racked NY was busy taking notes: "Japanese architectural firm IMA designed the airy space in conjunction with the Marimekko team, making sure it was closely conceptually aligned with the new Helsinki flagship. The space carries the full range of Marimekko products, including a wide variety of clothing and the Marimekko x Converse sneakers." Check out the full scoop here. [Racked NY]
