Christo Goes "Over the River"

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Artist Christo, who is famous for his "The Gates" installation in Central Park, will be expanding his presence westward. For his next project, he will cover portions of the Arkansas River (which is in Colorado, not Arkansas) with "silvery, luminous fabric panels." The installation will take place sometime next year.
